Libraries with new dimensions of engaging and empowering people
READ India being present in Gurugram, has one of its Community Library and Resource Centre in Wazirabad village, where the maximum migrants live who work in the nearby corporate offices, shops, malls and finding ways to meet their both ends.
At the same time, rich local stakeholders who have been staying for long and has big houses in their names. A mixed crowd is seen with a lot of movement in the village.
READ India has Community Library and Resource Centre in the Wazirabad village. Along with a fully stock library, where the students come and study, prepare for competitive examinations, learn computers basic and advance courses, women learn multiple skills as READ India provides opportunity for all category of women, such as stitching and sewing, beauty and wellness, making herbal products etc for young girls and women who does not have very high educational background and would like to be economically independent and live a life of self-dignity and respect not only in the family but in the society as a whole. Secondly, living in Gurugram, though in village, is expensive and additional income in the family is the necessity in a family, who migrated from other states to look for a livelihood in Gurugram. While they learn a skill, their children in the age group 3-6 years study in the formal Early Learning Centre as formal pre-school from play group to UKG.
In 2024, Perfetti Van Melle India, supported the skilling programme – Pariश्रम Kaushal for young boys and girls for learning Computers, join the course on General Duty Assistants to get jobs in the nearby nursing homes or hospitals, Beauty and Wellness for getting suitable jobs in the branded beauty clinics.
It was amazing to see the zeal, commitment and confidence in learning and earning decent living. During the recent meet at the Community Library and Resource Centers, girls shared their journey though short-term, but the gain is long-term as lifelong learning as these courses are teaching life skills, leadership skills with good communication skills.

This is one of the 60 other READ Community Library and Resource Centers with strong community engagement process.
In the past 10 years, many Corporations, national and international foundations came on board and supported the skilling programmes. READ India reached to unique learners through these Community Library and Resource Centers and prepared them for suitable opportunities for decent earning.
READ India is sure that these unique leaders will not look back in their lives and with their commitment and zeal, their children will continue their higher education and follow the footsteps of these members in their families.
Journey will continue in 2025…….and years to come!
